Option to backdate/retroactively calculate rollover category balances
When setting up a new rollover category (or switching an existing category to 'Rolls over') mid-year, the ledger currently starts in the active month at $0.
It would be great to have an option to automatically calculate the rolled-over balance based on past history, taking the target allocation minus actual spending from a chosen start date (e.g., January 1st), so the running balance accurately reflects year-to-date contributions and spending without needing manual balance adjustments.

Hi @LatitudeBusily250,
This is in. Open the rollover category’s History (tap its balance on the Dashboard, or the balance under its name on the Budget page) and choose Start from an earlier month under the month figures.
Pick the month, say January, then either fund each month at your target or only record what was already filed in that category. You see every month’s funding, spending and running balance before anything changes, and the balance then reflects the whole year, no manual adjustments needed.

Thank you so much! Love the way you did this with the table of breakdown per month, this will be very useful for on-boarding and setting up budgets I think.
A few notes/questions:
Currently unable to undo the starting date, if i set Jan 2026, I cannot go back to an earlier day, ever.
If i have no spending in some months but still want to count the rollover funding, its not possible, options only show the first month with a transaction.
There is no way to clear rollover history, even delete and restore the budget keeps it, this combined with unable to undo makes you stuck with a balance.
How does it work if I decide to change the allocated budget for the category? Is it possible to clear and start over?
In the future I would love a way to adjust the budget amount in the same interface that selects rollover start, so I can adjust and see the balance I would have depending on the budget I choose.

Thanks for the detailed list @LatitudeBusily250, thank you again for being thorough. It’s all live now:
• Undo or start over: open the category’s History (tap its balance), then Change start month. Pick a later month to stop counting the months before it, or the month you switched it on in to remove the backdate. You can change it as often as you like.
• Months with no spending: the month list now reaches back to your budget’s first transaction in any category, so quiet months count too.
• Clearing history: moving the start later removes the backdated funding and stops counting the spending before that month. Your transactions stay in Transactions and Reports.
• When the budget changes: changing your target doesn’t rewrite months you already backdated. They only change when you apply a change in that window, at the amount shown in the box.
• Trying other amounts: the same window now has an amount box. Type a different amount and the balance updates before you save. It’s only used for those months, so your budget stays as it is.
Cheers,

Also if I turn on rollover mid-month, it doesn’t count transactions between 1st and today in rollover balance. Is there a way to apply start at 1st of current month?
