Import transactions

I am noticing that when importing it’s pulling in pending maybe and when it notifies of new transactions. I go in and categorize or split the ones needed; but then when it pull I guess posted version it resets all the categorizations. I assume that’s what’s happening as I get notified both time for new transactions, and both times they are listed as new. Is there way to solidify the changes made first time.
