Goal Payments Shown in TRX and vice versa

Feature Request

It appears as though payments made in the goal module are not reflected in the transaction record. To ensure that payments are not double entered it would be good to have the same payment shown simultaneously in both goal and transaction sections.

    Thanks for the thoughtful feature request! This one's actually working as intended, and here's the thinking:

    There are two ways money reaches a goal, on purpose.

    1. First is linking a transaction. When the payment actually exists as a transaction (synced from your bank, or one you added), link it to the goal from the transaction's goal picker. It then shows in both places as a single entry. This is the flow that guarantees no double-counting.

    2. Second is "Add payment" inside the goal. This is a deliberate manual override for progress that isn't a transaction: money set aside outside your tracked accounts, a starting balance, an adjustment, accrued interest on a debt. Mirroring these into your transaction record automatically would create entries that never really happened in your budget, and for real payments, a duplicate of what your bank already synced.


    So the rule of thumb: if the payment exists as a transaction, link it. If it doesn't, use Add payment. Used that way, nothing gets double-entered. Hope that clears it up, and thanks again for flagging it. It's a fair thing to wonder about.
