Be able to see and filter by notes

I love being able to see and filter my transactions by the ‘Notes’ I make on each transaction. It is a great way to find transactions I want to look up. For example, if I want to find out how much that guitar was that I bought from the thrift store. This was a great feature in YNAB. You have the screen space.

    Honestly, setting up the view of transactions with more like excel with headers, such as date, account, payee, category and ESPECIALLY memo, outflow and inflow and being able to interact with the data without having to highlight the transaction and then make changes in a window would make dealing with transactions much easier and significantly faster.

    The ability to highlight lines would also make consolidating transactions much easier.

    I categorize the following as car maintenance, filters, car washes, oil changes, etc. I can easily keep track of how much I spent on oil changes by filtering on the word and then highlighting the transactions or just highlighting those few transactions.
    YNAB would give me the total sum in the 'Selected Total' calculation. A spectacular feature in my opinion.

    My splits did not import from YNAB and trying to consolidate the two transaction lists is horribly time consuming because I can only interact with one transaction at a time in waypoint and in a window.

    YNAB did the transaction page brilliantly. Follow their example.

      i noticed you have not replied to this comment. As I continue to use YNAB, I realize just how well the transactions page is to deal with and use for analysis.

      An example is my recent surgery. I add surgery related expenses under "‘health’ and makes notes in the memo. At the end of the year I can filter on my health budget and scan the memo category and highlight all the surgery related expenses. YNAB automatically calculates the running sum for me. I know can quickly estimate how much lower my health budget will be for next year. I can also quickly do this for any other out of the ordinary costs.

      I could do this in waypoint but ONLY if I consistently type the words “surgery” and/or “unusual” in the notes field to be able to later filter on the words. Of course this also means I do so without typos (something that is harder typing with one hand). I could also add subcategory but that is a few two many tiny budgets. All these options are onerous and require forethought, but some ideas only come after a pattern is noticed. We were gifted hindsight, not foresight.

      The key to any successful budgeting is tracking expenses first and foremost and then analysis and this is where waypoint is falling short for me. Please improve this. I really would rather use Waypoint but right now I feel like the human must accommodate the program verses the program facilitating the human.

      None of my memo notes from YNAB imported.

      And given humans’ propensities for typos and inconsistency regarding date entry (example car wash verses wand wash), being able to see the ‘Notes’ entries because the transaction page is set up more like an excel file would fix all this.

      Honestly the clunkiness of the transactions page and the inability to assign a manual transaction to an account is killing this program for and I so like the way you have the actual budgeting set up. That part is done brilliantly.
